Knut Hamsun's book "Victoria" in a special version intended for the Luftwaffe (Sunderdruckt Fur Die Luftwaffe), what is written on the cover. The cover also features a Luftwaffe eagle holding a swastika, of course. The book would be in really good condition if it weren't for the torn pages visible in the last photo. As for the author of the book himself, he was a Norwegian writer, Knut Hamsun born
August 4, 1859 in Vågå in 1920 he received the Nobel Prize in Literature for his novel "The Blessing of the Earth", but he also wrote such works as "The Hunger" and "A Man, Victoria and the Dreamers". However, next to such famous works there is also "Victoria", which tells the story of the love between a poor miller's son and an girl from high society. The existence of a Luftwaffe version of this book is most likely due to Knut's Nazism. Before and during the war, he supported the actions of Hitler and the rest of the NSDAP, in 1942 he even managed to meet his idol, Adolf Hitler, who he supported. If that was not enough, in 1943 he gave the medal that was part of the Nobel Prize to Joseph Goebbels. After World War 2, he was sentenced to a very high fine for treason, which deprived him of practically all his property. Ultimately, the writer was placed in a psychiatric hospital, which resulted in him writing the novel "On overgrown paths" in 1949. Knut Hamsun finally died about 3 years after being released from the psychiatric hospital in his home in Northolm on February 19, 1952.
I received the book together with few other things from my uncle. If you are reading this, I salute you!
