GM-38
GM-38 was the basic gas mask for soldiers of the Third Reich. It was an improved version of the GM-30 mask, from which it differed mainly in material. Well, the face part of the GM-38 mask is made entirely of black rubber and the face part of the GM-30 mask is made of green material rubberized from the inside. My piece is marked byd (shown in photo 6) which means that it was produced by the Dräger company in the factory in Lübeck in the middle of the war. The mask currently has anti-sweat inserts (probably put on by the soldier who owned it). The box has been preserved in good condition, although it is slightly rusty. Interestingly, on the lid from the place where the anti-sweat pads were originally located, the signature of the soldier who probably had them is visible (photo 16). The FE 41 combined filter is attached to the mask. The mask has a standard 38 millimeter thread, which means that even modern combined filter can be screwed to it. Masks, depending on the painting of the valves and visor frames, served the given function Brown - Africa Corps / Green - Basic version / Blue - Luftschutz
This one is a gift I got from the janitor from my school for which I thank him very much and if he reads this, I greet him warmly
